[winXP] Which version of .NET Framework should I install?

    Heja,

I just Installed a custom stripped down version of WINxp Pro SP3 (I removed the original Net Framework that ships with XP). Its not the first time for that im installing XP, but I never really knew what to do with .net framework.. I usually just install them all via MS update. But I read its not necessary for example to install .net framework 1.1.

As you can see I haven't installed any .net framework version.

Which versions do I have to install? Do I only need to install the latest version 4?

Hi .NET Framework 2.0 or .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 is enough for you. Version 4 is not needed until you are using some special apps.
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

When you install 3.0 it will automatically check for 2.0. If is not present,, then the 3.0 install process will also install 2.0. If you're going to install and use the ATI Catalyst Control Center, you must install the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 on XP, for instance. In most cases, having just .Net 1.1 and .Net 3.5 should cover you. You may not actually need 1.1, but there are some older apps that 3.5 won't cover. Depending on what software you use, you could possibly get by without any .Net at all. A Guy

It depends on what you really needed. It's just a peace of mind for me to install all the .Net Framework stuff, because later or sooner, I'll likely use .Net framework depended apps.
